Circle HealthPod Rapid Detection System
The Circle HealthPod Rapid Detection System is designed to perform in-vitro diagnostic testing for infectious diseases. Our first, fully-validated test is for Covid-19 and development has started for future tests such as for Influenza and STDs. It consists of a Circle HealthPod, a Molecular Capsule, a Specimen Capsule and an Anterior Nasal Swab.
The Circle HealthPod is a reusable, automated analyzer of test results and is used with the Circle HealthPod Test Capsules, Nasal Swabs, and the HealthPod mobile application.
Covid-19 Molecular Capsule Set
The Molecular Capsule Set consists of two single-use Capsules: the Molecular Capsule and the Specimen Capsule to be used together.
Single-Use Specimen Capsule is a single-use, disposable unit that contains the RNA Water preservative liquid to ensure the specimen with the Nasal Swab is kept in good condition before any Covid-19 detection happens inside the HealthPod.
Single-Use Molecular Capsule is a single-use disposable unit that contains two reaction Chambers: one covid-19 reaction chamber which detects SARS-CoV-2 virus, and one Human DNA Internal Control chamber which detects whether the specimen has human DNA. When the Molecular capsule is placed within the heated environment of Circle HealthPod (65°C), reagent reaction triggers a detection.
Anterior Nasal Swab and Specimen Capsule
The Anterior Nasal Swab is a single-use, sterile, disposable swab used for collection of a nasal sample from the lower portion of the human nose. The Nasal swab will be inserted into the Specimen Capsule when a specimen is collected.
Circle HealthPod App
The HealthPod app guides users to perform the test, detect results, and to share results. The app can be installed on the users’ iPhone or Android device. Once connected via Bluetooth, the test results can be displayed on the Circle HealthPod App in about 20 minutes. Results can also be viewed directly on the HealthPod without the mobile application.
The Circle HealthPod Covid-19 test and laboratory tests commonly known as PCR are molecular nucleic acid amplification tests (NAAT) that detect the SARS-CoV-2 virus genetic material. Other types of molecular tests are PCR, RT-PCR and LAMP. Molecular tests are more accurate than other methods such as antigen tests. The Circle HealthPod test uses isothermal nucleic acid amplification technology developed by University of Oxford professors that is an equivalent alternative amplification method to polymerase chain reaction (PCR).
The HealthPod Covid-19 test detects SARS-CoV-2 nucleic acid in nasal specimens. An anterior nasal swab method is used for sample collection. This method collects samples at the lower nasal, pain-free and a simple experience compared to the nasopharyngeal swab which is more invasive.
Circle HealthPod Rapid Detection Test can detect Covid-19 in about 20 minutes.
If you are suspected to have Covid-19 exposure or have symptoms, you should get tested as soon as possible.
For those who have a high risk of Covid-19 exposure, it is recommended to have a frequent, recurring testing such as every week.
If you have concerns during the pandemic and want to take a proactive approach to screening, you may have the Covid-19 test every two weeks because the incubation period of exposure to Covid-19 can range from 5-6 days to as long as 28 days.
Generally, frequent and recurring testing of Covid-19 is not necessary for people of minimal risk of Covid-19 exposure. With symptoms of mild cold or fever, one can take the Covid-19 test as a precautionary measure.

When paired with a smartphone - HealthPod allows up to 10 profiles to be tested and record their results under one device. Each test requires the use of 1 single-used capsule set and allows one user at a time.
When HealthPod is used alone - Each test requires the use of 1 single-use capsule set and allows one user at a time.
The Circle HealthPod is designed to be used up to more than 1000 times. The capsule set has a shelf life for 6 months when stored properly.
The Circle HealthPod is designed to be used safely after a positive result has been detected, as the collected sample is securely locked within the Specimen Capsule. Cleaning and disinfection procedures are suggested:
Circle HealthPod: Clean/wipe device with germicidal wipe.
Capsule Disposal: Place the used capsules into the disposal bag provided and dispose of the bag as you would normally dispose of your garbage.

A test can be done with or without the connection to a smartphone. The registration for individual accounts on smartphones is to allow access to past result records from users and to also share results. The test results can also be detected on the Circle Healthpod itself via the LED lights which will show positive, negative and invalid status.
Each Circle HealthPod can be connected to a single smartphone at one time, it is to ensure the results are secure.
Molecular tests detect genetic material – the RNA (ribonucleic acid) – specifically to SARS-CoV-2. Molecular tests amplify bits of viral RNA so that the presence of the viral genetic material can be detected. This can also be referred to as nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT). The procedure begins by taking a sample from a potentially infected person’s nose where a virus might be found. If SARS-CoV-2 is present in the sample, then even low levels of viral genetic material can be amplified into millions of copies detected during a molecular diagnostic assay. If a person is infected, the viral RNA will be detected and produces a positive test result; if a person is not infected, no viral RNA will be copied or detected, which will produce a negative test result. Amplifying the signal allows for even small amounts of virus to be detected.
Molecular tests are 500x more accurate than other methods such as antigen tests. Isothermal loop-mediated nucleic acid amplification technology (LAMP) is used for the molecular amplification reaction that is an equivalent alternative amplification method to polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Molecular tests determine if you have a current infection.
Antigen test detects specific proteins on the surface of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Antigen tests also determine if you have a current infection, but are generally less sensitive than molecular tests.
Antibody test detects the presence of antibodies to the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which reflects the body’s immune response. Antibody tests determine if you had a past infection of Covid-19.
